Laser Treatment for Pigmentation
Targeted Pigment Correction for Even-Toned Skin at Varsity Clinic
Pigmentation concerns like sun spots, melasma, freckles, age spots, and uneven skin tone are among the most common cosmetic skin issues. At Varsity Clinic, laser pigmentation treatment offers a safe, effective, and non-invasive solution to correct and lighten hyperpigmented areas—restoring clarity, balance, and radiance to the skin.
Laser treatment targets melanin in the deeper layers of skin, helping break down pigmentation gently and naturally, while stimulating fresh skin renewal.

How Laser Works for Pigmentation
At Varsity Clinic, we use advanced Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers that emit concentrated light energy in short pulses. This light energy is absorbed by the excess melanin, fragmenting it into tiny particles which are then naturally cleared by the body’s lymphatic system.
The laser also stimulates collagen production and skin rejuvenation, resulting in not only clearer skin, but also improved tone, texture, and brightness.
Ideal Candidates
Laser pigmentation removal is recommended for:
- Men and women with stubborn dark spots
- Individuals with melasma or acne marks
- Those looking for an even skin tone
- Patients with sun-damaged skin or tanning
- People who have not responded well to creams or chemical peels
The treatment is safe for most Indian skin tones when performed using the correct wavelength, energy settings, and medical protocols.
What Causes Pigmentation?
Pigmentation occurs due to the overproduction or uneven distribution of melanin—the pigment responsible for skin color. This can result from prolonged sun exposure, hormonal changes, acne scars, inflammation, or genetics. Common pigmentary disorders include:
- Melasma
- Lentigines (sun/age spots)
- PIH (Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation)
- Freckles
- Dark patches around the mouth, cheeks, or forehead
While topical products may provide temporary lightening, lasers offer a deeper, more lasting solution.
Procedure at Varsity Clinic
Each session is preceded by a skin analysis to determine the type, depth, and cause of pigmentation. A numbing gel may be applied for comfort. The laser is then used to deliver targeted pulses to the pigmented areas, without harming the surrounding tissue.
There is little to no downtime—mild redness or warmth may occur, which subsides within hours. Sun protection and skincare compliance are essential post-treatment for best results.
At Varsity Clinic, all laser pigmentation treatments are supervised by Dr. Pranjal Joshi (MBBS, MD Dermatology, FIADVL – Dermatosurgery, FACSI – Lasers), an internationally trained Cosmetic Dermatologist and Laser Specialist. With over 11 years of experience and advanced training from Rome, Singapore, and Austria, Dr. Joshi ensures the treatment is tailored, effective, and safe for all skin types.
Treatment Schedule & Results
Depending on the severity and type of pigmentation, 4 to 6 sessions may be required, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. Noticeable lightening can be seen as early as the second session, with progressive improvements in clarity and evenness.
